Chester Newton Roberson, Jr.

Chester Newton “Buster” Roberson, Jr., a resident of US 158 By-Pass, died Friday, September 15, 2023 at his home. Born in Vance County on May 27, 1939, he was the son of the late Chester Newton Roberson, Sr. and Fannie Gordon Roberson. Chester was a veteran of the North Carolina Army National Guard. He was a former employee of Medical Arts Pharmacy, and was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church and a former member of the Epsom Lions Club. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Poplar Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tony Evans. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Faucette Roberson of the home; one brother, Marvin Roberson of Henderson, many nieces and nephews; and several young adults that Chester and Gladys thought of as God Children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann McFarland. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home. Serving as active pall bearers will be George Williams, Frank Tippett, Jerry Ayscue, G. L. Roberson, Philip Tippett, and Ernest McFarland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Poplar Creek Baptist Church, 1371 Poplar Creek Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
