HENDERSON- Chubby Lee Thompson, 78, a resident of Ruin Creek Rd., passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Maria Parham Health. Born May 14, 1948 in Northampton Co., he was the son of the late Paul Wilson Thompson and Ophelia Hodges Thompson. Chubby was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War, a member of Zion Methodist Church, and was the owner and operator of the former Dads Restaurant.
Funeral arrangements will be announced.
Chubby is survived by his daughter, Joy Thompson Wrenn (John) of the Watkins Community; his son, Travis Thompson (Cindy) of Oxford; his stepdaughter, Susan Rebecca Stallings (Mike) of Henderson; his stepson, John Carter Stallings (Holly) of Henderson; four grandchildren, Seth Abbott Thompson, Erin Paige Thompson, Cecelia Elaine Wrenn, and Mollie Olivia Wrenn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Gail Walker Thompson and Cathy Farmer Stallings Thompson; four brothers, Brooks Thompson, Isaac Thompson, Surry Thompson, and Bert Thompson.
Chubby will be laid to rest with his wife Gail at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia South Carolina.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home on Ruin Creek Rd. in the evenings from 3:00 until 6:00 PM.
