Clarice Coghill Watkins

HENDERSON- Clarice Coghill Watkins, 91, of Oakridge Avenue, died Monday, April 7, 2025 at a local nursing home. Born June 4, 1933 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Grace Pleasants Coghill and Clarence Fuller Coghill and was the widow of Durwood Thomas Watkins, Sr. She was a member of Fuller Chapel Christian Church. Clarice was a former employee of Kerr Vance Academy, assisting students and staff in various capacities. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Fuller Chapel Christian Church at 11:00 A.M. by Rev. Tammy Ayscue. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Clarice is survived by her daughter, Sharon W. Clark (Greg) of Henderson; her granddaughter, Chastity N. Clark of Orlando, FL; and two brothers, Clarence F. “Sonny” Coghill (Patricia) and Donald A. Coghill (Faye), both of Henderson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Durwood T. “Tommy” Watkins, Jr.; a daughter, Michelle Leigh Watkins; her sister, Blanche Hunter Harper; and her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Vaughn Watkins. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fuller Chapel Christian Church at 1470 N. Lynnbank Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
