Clayton Thomas Kearney

HENDERSON-Clayton Thomas “Clay” Kearney, 46, a resident of S. Garnett Street Extension, died Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Born on April 25, 1976 in Vance County, he was the son of Paula Satterwhite Kearney of Henderson and the late Alan Travis Kearney, Sr. He was employed as a salesman at Lowes of Henderson. He was a former photographer for 13 years with Portrait Innovations in Wilmington, and was a member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 24, 2023, at 11:00 AM at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Burgess and the Rev. Will Breedlove. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-mother, Susan Kearney of Henderson; one brother, Alan Travis Kearney, Jr. of Oxford; one step-sister, Deanna Leigh Davis of Wilson; one niece, Zoey Katelynn Kearney; and two nephews, Patrick Alan Kearney and Brandon Goodson. The family will receive friends following the service on Friday in the Fellowship Hall of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church. At other times they will be at the home, 1705 S. Garnett St. Extension. Serving as pallbearers will be Will Breedlove, Michael Breedlove, Ben Breedlove, Dustin Brummitt, Hartwell Wright, and Danny Wright. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to New Sandy Creek Baptist Church, 1699 Weldon’s Mill Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
