HENDERSON-Curtis Norman Matthews, age 54, a resident of 729 Boddie Street, died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at his home.Born in Vance County on May 9, 1959, he was the son of John Junious Matthews and Dorothy Kittrell Matthews of Henderson.He was the owner and operator of Matthews Painting Company, and was a member of Freedom Life Church Of God and the Bucks Only Hunting Club.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 12 Noon at Freedom Life Church Of God by the Rev. Jeff Prewer.Burial will follow in New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Leah Matthews of Henderson; three sons, John Curtis Matthews, Dustin Matthews, and Cody Matthews of Henderson; one sister, Patricia Ann Munn of Henderson; one brother, John Robert Matthews of Henderson; two grandchildren, Chase Lloyd and Kyle Anderson; and his girl friend, Crystal Matthews.
The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service from 10 until 12 Noon at Freedom Life Church Of God.At other times they will be at the home of John and Dorothy Matthews at 722 Boddie Street.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Johnny Royster, Jr., H. M. Pegram, Donald Ray Matthews, Tommy Tucker, Paul Manning, and Eugene Parrish.
