HENDERSON- David Candler Tingen, Sr., 93, of Stanley Street, died Monday, July 6, 2026 at the Durham VA Hospital. Born August 26, 1932 in Granville County, he was the son of the late Laura Keeton Tingen and Abner Garrett Tingen.
David was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He retired from Merita Bread Company where he was a route driver and he was a member of Marrow’s Chapel Church.
A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Marrow’s Chapel Church Cemetery by Rev. Wilbert Horton.
He is survived by his wife, Gracie Schuster Tingen of the home; his daughter, Shelia Tingen (Danny Stanton) of Henderson; a grandson, Cam Tingen (Brittany) of Henderson; and a great grandson, Blake Tingen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, D.C. Tingen, Jr.; a grandson, Kyle Tingen; seven sisters and six brothers.
The family will receive friends following the service on Thursday in the fellowship hall and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vance County Animal Shelter, 1243 Brodie Rd, Henderson, NC 27536 or Marrow’s Chapel Church, c/o Marshall Tingen 9034 McDuffie Rd, Oxford, NC 27565.
