ELIZABETHTON, TN- Delores Hinton Whitmore, 95, a former resident of Henderson, died Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Hermitage Health Center in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Born on July 5, 1924 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late James Henry Hinton and Annie Skenes Hinton.
Delores was a member of First Baptist Church in Henderson.She was a part of the family business, M. E. Whitmore, Inc. and also was employed with the Vance County Clerk of Court prior to retirement.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Ronald S. Cava and Dr. Marion D. Lark.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia W. Johnson (Don) of Roan Mountain, Tennessee; two sons, Malvern Edward "Mal" Whitmore, Jr. of Raleigh and David Alan Whitmore of Henderson; five grandchildren, Chris Johnson, Neil Johnson (Caroline), Meredith Jarrett (Rich), Mallory Flye (Andrew) and Tyler Whitmore; and five great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malvern Edward "Mickey" Whitmore. Sr. and daughter Barbara W. Dixon.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 am in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.
