HENDERSON-Dexter Lee Nance, age 82, a resident of 309 Roberts Avenue, died Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Born in Granville County on March 21, 1932, he was the son of the late Dexter Lee Nance and Betty May Nance.
He was retired from Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc. and was a member of Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Adult Bible Class.He was also a member of the Hardees Breakfast Club.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 pm at Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Cleveland Harrison.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by three daughters, Loretta Williams, husband John, Loraine Abbott, husband Arvelle, all of Henderson, Juanita Hanford, husband Wayne of
Raleigh; son, Dexter Anthony Nance of Henderson; sister, Bessie Ubanski of Chicago; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Dean "Dinky" King Nance.
The family will receive friends Sunday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of John and Loretta Williams at 157 Roberts Avenue.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Billy Reams, Claude Jordan, Norman Haithcock, John Faucette, John "Buck" Stallings, and Lee Jordan.
