Mrs. Dolores Monica Leahy, age 99, a former resident of 2234 Egypt Mountain Road, Kittrell died Sunday, February 26,2012 at Hillside Nursing Center in Wake Forest.Born on March 26, 1912 in Chemung County, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry Edward Essen and Stella Janowski Kusper.Mrs. Leahy was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was a former Registered Nurse in Elmira NY.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Henderson by Father Bill Upah. Burial will follow at a later date in St. Paul and Peter Cemetery in Elmira, New York.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Joseph Leahy of Kittrell and Lawrence P. Leahy of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Mary L. Farnan of Lafayette, CO; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Leahy was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Anselm Joseph Leahy; and two brothers, Casmir Essen and Edward Kusper.
The family will receive friends following the service Saturday morning at St. James Catholic Church.
