Donald Ray Bowes, Sr.

HENDERSON- Donald Ray Bowes, Sr., 76, of Bent Creek Lane, died Monday, March 27, 2023 at his home. Born November 11, 1946 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Silas G. Bowes and Christine Mosley Waddell. Donald was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Era. He previously worked as a supervisor with Harriett and Henderson Yarns and was retired from Vance County Animal Control. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Oxford where funeral services will be held Friday, March 31, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. by Rev. Cecil Newton. Burial with military honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Donald is survived by his wife, Donna Stegall Bowes of the home; a daughter, Alicia B. Williamson (Roy) of Clarksville, VA; four sons, Steven Bowes and Michael Bowes, Sr., both of Henderson, Thomas Bowes (Rachael) and Donald Bowes, Jr., both of Hope Mills; two sisters, Jeanette Garner of Statesville and Patsy Ochs of Huntersville; two brothers, Ronald Bowes and M.G. Bowes, both of Statesville; eleven grandchildren and a great grandchild. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Meadows. Serving as pallbearers will be William Elliott, Josh Green, Wyatt Austin, Benny Bowes, Roy Williamson, Jr., Damon Bowes, and Michael Bowes, Jr. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at J.M. White Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Alicia and Roy Williamson, 6193 Shiney Rock Rd., Clarskville, VA, 23927.
