Dorieen Tharrington Kearney

Dorieen Tharrington Kearney, 83, a resident of NC 39 South, died Monday, January 20, 2025 at Maria Parham Health. Born in Franklin County on April 21, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Tharrington and Iones Edwards Tharrington, and was the widow of Wade Randolph Kearney. Mrs. Kearney was a Teacher’s Assistant and bus driver for the Franklin County School System. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 22, at 3:00 PM at New Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Jon Owen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by one daughter Amy Cheshire of the home; one son, Randy Kearney of Epsom; one granddaughter, Amanda Moore (Matthew); two grandsons, Matt Kearney (Samantha) and Sutter Cheshire; and two great grandchildren, Jovie Moore and Koa Moore. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Dale Kearney; one sister, Lucy Grey Adcock; and one brother, Thomas Newcomb “Newt” Tharrington. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall of New Bethel Baptist Church.
