WAKE FOREST-Doris Jackson Brown, age 89, a resident of 237 Highgate Circle, and a former resident of Middleburg, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Rex Hospital.Born in Vance County on January 16, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James Marion Jackson and Annie Perdue Jackson.Doris was formerly employed with the former Fabric Shop.
She was a member of Rolesville Baptist Church and a former member of The First Congregational Christian Church in Henderson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Randy Bridges and the Rev. Edward Yancey.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by one daughter, Elaine B. Jennings and husband, Terry, of Raleigh; one son, W. Thomas Brown and wife, Louise, of Marietta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Scott T. Brown, Sr. and wife, Melissa, Stephen H. Brown and wife, Ginger, and Mindy L. Wilson and husband, Chris; two step grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Jennings and Stacey Lynn Jennings of Henderson; seven great grandchildren, Scott Thomas Brown, Jr., Emily K. Brown, W. Harrison Brown, Lily Elizabeth Brown, Kyle Scott Wilson, Joshua Wade Wilson, and Christopher Everett Wilson; and one step-great granddaughter, McKenzie Page Tingen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joshua Scott Josh Brown; one son, James Scott Jim Brown; four sisters, Blanche J. Satterwhite, Janie J. Brewer, Beulah J. Royster, and Bertha J. Royster; and four brothers, Horace Jackson, Milburn Jackson, James Bennett Jackson, and John Douglas Jackson.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at her home at 237 Highgate Circle.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Scott Thomas Brown, Sr., Stephen Holloway Brown, Christopher Wade Wilson, Ronald E. Pitman, Jr., Horace E. Eddie Jackson, and John L. Mabry, Jr.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Rolesville Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 185, Rolesville, N. C.27571.
Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home of Henderson.
