HENDERSON- Dorothy Dickerson Martin, age 73, a resident of 699 Mabry Mill Rd, died Monday, May 26, 2014 at her home.Born in Vance County on June 5, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Eugene Dickerson and Rosetta Pendergrass Dickerson Hoyle and the widow of Charlie Vernon Martin.Mrs. Martin was retired from Harriett and Henderson where she worked as a spinner.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM in the J.M. White Funeral Home chapel by Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in the New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Libby Gutshall and Judy Thomas both of Henderson; three sisters, Rachel D. Ward of Creedmoor, Helen D. Short and Judy D. Jackson both of Henderson; two brothers, Ellis Dickerson and James Dickerson of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Tina Ellis, Jonathan Bennett, Stacy Hicks, Kristy Thomas, Jimmy Thomas Jr., Jeremy Gutshall, and Emily Gutshall; and four great-grandchildren, Landon Hicks, Mallory Bennett, Tanner Bennett and Tyler Cain.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Bennett.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 till 8:00pm at J.M. White Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Furlow, Kyle Furlow, Justin Furlow, Kenny Jackson, Daryl Jackson, and Tony Riley.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 914, Henderson, NC 27536 in memory of Dorothy D. Martin.
