Dorothy Burroughs Palmer, age 91, a resident of 225 Bellewood Drive, died Friday, January 25, 2013, at her home.Born on August 1, 1921 in Warren County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Cooke Burroughs and Blanche Pinnell Burroughs.Mrs. Palmer was formerly the personnel secretary for J. W. Marriott in Washington, DC, and while at Ft. Meade, she was secretary for Col. Stokes.She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was active in many church programs.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Keith Benze.Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Jeanne Palmer Capstaff of the home; one granddaughter, Jennifer Capstaff Trotman and husband, William J. Trotman, Jr. of Morrisville; and two great grandchildren, William Palmer Trotman and Walt Andrew Trotman.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Franklin Palmer; one brother, Walter Cooke Burroughs, Jr.; and five sisters, Daisy B. Reavis, Ida B. Maddrey, Mamie B. Weaver, Blanche B. Wynn, and Florence B. Moseley.
The family will receive friends at the home at 225 Bellewood Drive.
Serving as active pall bearers will be W. Phillip Moseley, Walter Weaver, William Trotman, Jr.,
William Hobgood, Harvey Jackson, and Louis Vaughan.
