HENDERSON-Dorothy Jane Gosney Hall Smith Roberson, age 75, a resident of Garden Walk Apartments, died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Universal Health Care in Oxford.Born in Halifax County, Virginia on December 20, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Russell T. Gosney and Grace Toone Gosney.She was a former employee of the Western Sizzlin Restaurant and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Blackridge, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Will Breedlove.A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2 pm in the Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Blackridge, Virginia.
She is survived by one daughter, Tabatha Smith Powers and husband, Steve of Oxford; three sons, Tony James Hall and wife, Sandy of South Hill, Virginia, Russell Scott Hall and wife, Margaret of La Crosse, Virginia, and Larry Tinsley Smith, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Carrollton, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Candace Martin, Lindsey Faulk, Kristen Hall, Alison Hall, Dustin Hall, JamieHall, Jacob Smith, and Hannah Smith; two great- grandchildren, Lillian Martin and Ayden Raub; one brother, Gene "Buck" Gosney of La Crosse, Virginia; and one sister, Bonnie Watson of Durham, NC.In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister, Frances "Tan" Wilson; and one brother, Thomas Gosney.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Steve and Tabatha Powers at 5076 Dorsey Road, Oxford, NC.
