HENDERSON-Dorothy Marie Vaughan Stainback, 84, a resident of 271 Greystone Road, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at her home.Born in Granville County on September 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Maurice J. Vaughan, Sr. and Parylee Perkinson Vaughan.
Mrs. Stainback was a homemaker and the oldest member of Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saintswhere she played the piano and organ for many years, and was an avid genealogist.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 pm at Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by President Keith Abbott.Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Jennings of the home; two daughters, Judy Staton and Dorothy Jean Murray of Henderson; two sons, David "Tony" Horton (Crystal) of Myrtle Beach, SC and William Allen Hutson (Kim) of Hillsborough; one brother, Maurice J. Vaughan, Jr. of Henderson; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; two step-sons, Johnny Jennings and Butch Jennings of Henderson; and her faithful companion, Weebo.She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Stainback.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 until 8 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home on Greystone Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Benjamin Perkinson, James Griffin, Julian Griffin, Bryan David Griffin, Jr., Johnnie Ray Griffin, III, and Patrick Horton.
