Dorothy Edwards Winters, 84, a former resident of Henderson, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Franklin Oaks Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Louisburg.Born on October 4, 1932 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late William Edwards and Ora Neal Edwards.Mrs. Winters was retired from the former
Purolator where she worked for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, and the Adult Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 pm at Victory Baptist Church by the Rev. Ricky Easter.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by two daughters, Myra Winters Parnell (Mickey) of Kittrell and Darlene Winters Steed of Henderson; two sons, Freddie Taylor (Linda) of Louisburg and Michael Ray Winters (Rita) of Henderson; daughter-in-law, Peggy Winters Jones of Henderson; one sister, Joyce Edwards Poole of Kittrell; and nine-grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Odell Winters and Bob Smith; a son, Roger Winters; three brothers; and six sisters.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 2 until 3 pm at Victory Baptist Church.At other times they will be at the home at 212 N. Shank Street.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Scottie Stevenson, Butch Wright, Cameron Winters, Russell Boyd, Cam Winters, Christian Furr, and Bryan Winters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Baptist Church, PO Box 592, Henderson, NC27536.
