Dr. Don Hill Gwynn, 84, of 1845 Parker Lane, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Maria Parham Health.Born in Richmond, VA on January 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Osborne Hinton Gwynn and Maude Owen Gwynn.Dr. Gwynn was the former owner and operator of West Hills Veterinary Centre and a member of The Church of The Holy Innocents in Henderson.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2:00 PM at The Church of The Holy Innocents by The Rev. Donald Lowery.
Dr. Gwynn is survived by his wife, Valerie G. Gwynn of the home; four daughters, Karin G. Cornelson (Martin) of Spartanburg, SC, Donna G. Wester (John) of Henderson, Jennifer McDaniel Gwynn of Advance, and Melissa G. Osborne (Garry) of Ashburn, VA; two sons, Don Hill Gwynn, Jr. (Katherine) of Greensboro, and John P. Gwynn (Shannon) of Henderson; a step-son, Brian Taylor (Kara) of Durham; his sister, Nancy G. Redding (Gene) of Greenville, SC; and eighteen grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara M. Gwynn.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Great Hall of The Church of The Holy Innocents.
In memory of his passionate love and care for animals in our community, the family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vance County Animal Shelter, 1243 Brodie Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
