Earl Howell “Bubbie” O’Geary, 86, a resident of Glover Street died Friday, July 22, 2022 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. Born on August 25, 1935 in Vance County, he was the son of the late James Buxton “Buck” O’Geary and Catherine Neathery O’Geary. Mr. O’Geary was a retired manager at Roses Warehouse. He was a lifelong member of North Henderson Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon, sang in the church choir of which he was the choir director, and the Sunday School Director. “Bubbie” coached youth baseball, loved the Duke Blue Devils and the New York Yankees. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Island Creek Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Marshall Neathery and the Rev. Johnny Yount. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall at Island Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois Pegram O’Geary of the home; four sons, Howell Alexander O’Geary (Denise) of Rocky Mount, Ricky Lane O’Geary (Nancy) and Timothy Wayne O’Geary (Sharon) of Oxford, and Gregory Todd O’Geary of the home; one daughter, Cheryl O’Geary Doby (Jimmy) of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Nicholas Alexander O’Geary (Chase), Benjamin Rosser O’Geary (Zoey), Matthew Scott O’Geary (Megan), Shannon Nichole Atherton (Keith), Bradley Alan Ayscue (Cyndi) and Samantha Jo Brooks (Kevin); eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Rose Edwards (James); and two brothers, James David “Pete” O’Geary (Grace) and Kenneth Harlen “Mann” O’Geary (Lois); and his faithful fur companion “Molly Ann. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Elizabeth “Jane” Wilkerson; and one brother, William Edward O’Geary. Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Nicholas Alexander O’Geary, Benjamin Rosser O’Geary, Adrian Warren Fisher, Matthew Scott O’Geary, Keith Pendergrass, and Bradley Alan Ayscue.
