Edgar Wallace Hilliard, 77, a resident of N. Lynnbank Road, died Monday, August 9, 2021 at his home.Born on November 2, 1943 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Norman Bartlett Hilliard and Virginia Mae McGhee Hilliard Strickland.Edgar was a 1962 graduate of Zeb Vance High School, and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a Service Technician at Sears for 28 years.He was a member of Freedom Life Church of God where he was a member and former teacher of the Men's Sunday School Class.He was also an avid Gardner and Repairman.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:00 Noon at Freedom Life Church of God by the Rev. Jeff Prewer.Burial with Military Honors will follow at Peace's Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Cole Hilliard of the home; two sons, Edgar Wallace "Eddie" Hilliard, II and wife, Jaime, and Nathan Brice Hilliard and wife, Amanda of Kittrell; his grandchildren, Caleb Ethan Lee Weiss, Cason Mackay Hilliard, Garrett Brice Hilliard, and Brantley Brice Hilliard; two sisters, Virginia Mae Short of Warrenton and LaRose "Sug" Stainback of Henderson; and three brothers, Norman Marshall Hilliard of Kittrell, Wilson Dudley Strickland, and Charles Edward Strickland of Henderson.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Eugene Hilliard.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Freedom Life Church of God.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Leon Short, Al Stainback, Cole Davis, Larry Cole, David Fairey, Alan May, Donald Ray Matthews, Todd Cole and Norman Hilliard.
Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Harvey Harris, Allen Stone, Wayne Franklin, and Don Pulley.
