HENDERSON-Edith Arnold Ivey Adcock, age 72, a resident of 880 Coble Blvd, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on February 27, 1942, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Ivey and Lizzie Owen Ivey.Edith was a retired Manager of the Vance County ABC Store, and was a former Quality Control Inspector at Burlington Industries and an employee of Roses Stores, Inc.
After retirement, she often pet sat for many people and was an avid reader, loved taking trips to the beach and going to the movies with her friends.She loved her grandchildren very much.
She was a member of West End Baptist Church where she was a member of the Betsy Tuten Sunday School Class, the Katie Oakely WMU Circle Group, and the Golden Gals & Guys of which she served as Secretary.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 3 PM at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph McGowan.
She is survived by one daughter, Gail Salazar LaRue of Henderson; two grandsons, Zac Salazar of Henderson and Travis LaRue and fiancee, Collins Allen of Oxford; one brother, Harold Ivey and wife, Gail of Henderson and her special friends, Margaret Jones, Hazel Foster, and Tom Hardy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Doris Owen Ivey Stokes Harris, Charlie Edward Ivey, Herman Lee Ivey, John Thomas Ivey, Mary Catherine Ivey, Peggy Elizabeth Ivey Williamson, James Hartwell Ivey, Magalene Marie Ivey Boyd, Jimmy Wheeler Ivey, and Robert Henry Ivey.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday prior to the service from 2 until 3 pm at West End Baptist Church.At other times they will be at her home at 880 Coble Blvd., Apt. 32.
