HENDERSON- It is with great sadness that the family of Edith Perdue Kearson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother announces her passing. Edith passed away November 6th, 2023, in Oxford, surrounded by her family. Born August 29, 1924 in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Annie B. Hight Perdue and Clifton Hamet Perdue and was the widow of Bailey Louis Kearson. She spent her childhood in Franklin County and her adulthood in Vance County. Edith was known for her kind and caring personality, which she showed throughout her personal and professional life. She worked as a Nursery Nurse at Maria Parham Hospital for 37 years, where she devoted herself to caring for newborn babies. Her love for babies did not end there, as she continued to care for and nurture her own family for many years. Edith was a proud member of Spring Valley United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She enjoyed sewing and crafting and was quite talented. Edith embodied the true definition of a lady. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home by Rev. Johnny Yount. The family is also profoundly grateful for the exceptional care and support that Gentiva Hospice gave during her last days on earth. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, PO Box 2510, Henderson, NC 27536, of which Edith was a passionate supporter.
