HENDERSON- Mr. Edmond Dewey Walker, Jr. age 68, a resident of 234 Davis Street, died Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Maria Parham Hospital.Born in Vance County on August 8, 1947 he was the son of the late Dewey Walker and Helen Short Walker.He was retired from Vance Construction where he worked as a carpenter for 40 years.He was a member of Freedom Life Church of God where funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM conducted by Rev. Jeff Prewer.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Shelia Wiggins Walker of the home; his daughter, Cynthia W. Parrish and husband Wayne of Henderson; his son, Edmond Dewey Walker, III of the home; a brother, Ricky Walker of Henderson; a sister, Ann Ross of Raleigh; and two special boys who he considered his own grandchildren, Donnie Ray Travis, Jr. and Yonathan Maldonado.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie Walker and Bruce Walker; and a sister, Wanda Puckett.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 PM till 8:30 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Paul Manning, Ray Clayborne, Allan Stone, Charlie Stone, Randy King, Harry Orr and Bucky Harris.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be ushers of Freedom Life Church of God.
