Edna Norwood Tucker

Edna Louise Norwood Tucker, age 86, a resident of 2610 Burnside Road, died Monday October 8, 2012 at Duke Medical Center.Born in Vance County on September 18, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Joseph Elmo Norwood and Elizabeth Stainback Norwood. Mrs. Tucker was a housewife, homemaker, devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church and was a member of the Florence Woody Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Island Creek Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Marshall Neathery.Burial will follow in the Island Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter Carol T. Shockley and husband Danny of the home; two grandchildren Michael Woodard and wife Crystal, and Cindy Woodard; six great- grandchildren, Rachel Daniel, Elizabeth Daniel, Tommy Daniel, Alex Daniel, Olivia Burrows and Aurora Woodard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Alexander Tucker; four brothers, Basil Norwood, Thomas Norwood, Hunter Norwood and Wheeler Norwood; and three sisters, Lulu VanDyke, Violet Wilkerson, and Mary Alice Beasley.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Carol and Danny Shockley, 2610 Burnside Road, Henderson.
Serving as pall bearers will be Johnnie Beasley, Wayne Beasley, Tommy Norwood, Timmy Wilkerson, David Ellington, Mike Breedlove and Jose Alejos.
