HENDERSON- Edward Earl Hughes, 58, of Dabney Woods Drive, died Monday, February 10, 2020 at Maria Parham Health.Born in Granville County on August 25, 1961, he was the son of the late Thomas Edward Hughes and Lessie Strickland Hughes.Earl formerly worked as the maintenance director for Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and was a member of First United Methodist Church Henderson.He was also a member of the Gela Hunting Club and was an avid fisherman and hunter.Earl loved his family and was a devoted father.He also loved his special dogs Hoss and Chubs.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church by Rev. Bobby Fletcher.A graveside service will be held Monday, February 17, 2020 at Sunset Gardens at 3:00 PM.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Weatherington Hughes of the home; three daughters, Brandie Powell (Robert) of Oxford, Erica Porter (Mark) of Greenville and Holly Hughes of the home; four brothers, Danny Hughes (Denise) of Henderson, Lee Hughes (Pam) of Henderson, Glenn Hughes (Tammy) of Stovall and Van Hughes (Tina) of Oxford; three grandsons, Lucas Powell, Isaac Powell and Gabriel Powell; and special friends, Doug and Malinda Puckett.
The family will receive friends following the service on Thursday at First United Methodist Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Powell, Mark Porter, Curtis Lovings, Mike Humphries, Michael Norwood, Dave Strickland, Brandon Bowling and Caleb Talley.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 114 Church St., Henderson, N.C. 27536.
