Edward Joseph Johnston

KITTRELL- Edward Joseph Johnston, 60, beloved son of James E. and LaVerne Lowry Johnston, died Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in Kittrell, North Carolina after a long illness. MSGT Johnston served for 24 years in the United States Air Force, Military Airlift Command as an aircraft maintenance craftsman and instructor for the C5 Galaxy at Dover AFB. Devoted to duty, he received the Air Force Commendation, Air Force Achievement and Meritorius Service Medals. Called "Chip" by family, he graduated from Towson High School, Baltimore County, Maryland in 1981. During his lifetime Edward enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. Along with his military service, Edward was a skilled carpenter and handyman, owned harness racing horses, enjoyed cooking and was an accomplished skeet shooter. Known to many as kind-hearted and generous, he is survived by his parents, his brother Peter and his family, and family and friends in North Carolina, Maryland and Delaware.
