Edward Louis Mustian, Jr., son of Edward Louis Mustian, Sr., and Ila Blanche Hedgepeth Mustian, died September 1, 2015. Predeceased by his parents and sister, Ann M. Edwards, he is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nina Barnes Mustian; three sons, Edward L. Mustian, III (Carolyn), William Marshall Mustian (Terrie), and Paul Barnes Mustian (Alisa); seven grandchildren, Laura Rose (Tim), Andrew (Christin), David (Lauren), Rachel, Emily, Jamie, and Louis and one great-grandson, Theodore. Surviving siblings are Nellie Gray Worsley, Elizabeth Hood, and R. David Mustian.
Born August 19, 1927, in Henderson, NC, he graduated from Zeb Vance High School and Henderson Business College before enlisting in the US Navy where he entered the Pilot Training Program. He did not fly because WWII ended, but he later became a private pilot and active member of the Civil Air Patrol. Following Navy discharge, he enrolled in NC State where he was the yearbook editor and graduated from the School of Textile Management Synthesis in 1951. He also did graduate studies at the University of Richmond and VCU. He enjoyed a 34-year career with DuPont, and retired in 1985. Louis served as a Boy Scout leader and member of Welborne UMC for 58 years.
The family will receive friends at the Woody funeral home, Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, Va. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 5:00-7:00pm, the funeral will take place at Welborne United Methodist Church on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 11:00am, the interment will take place at Union Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery at 6535 Raleigh Rd. in Kittrell, N.C. at 3:30pm
Memorial contributions may be made to Welborne United Methodist Church or Union Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery fund, Kittrell, N.C.
