HENDERSON-Lottie Elaine Stainback Reavis, 95, a resident of Henderson died peacefully Thursday, October 05, 2017.Born on November 5, 1921 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Murtie Lee Stainback and Nora Mae Ayscue Stainback, and was the widow of Donald W. Reavis, Sr..
She will be remembered dearly by how she lived her life, which was in service to others. As one friend described her, "She is a walking example of love." Many members of our community have been touched by her generosity and endless capacity of giving. In addition to her family and friends, New Sandy Creek Baptist Church was a lifelong love. She was a devoted member and actively participated in many roles until she was unable to attend. She served as the Church Librarian, Secretary, and Treasurer. She spent countless hours making sure that elder members could attend by picking them up and driving them to church every Sunday. Her family and friends were always welcome in her home, where they were most likely served homemade banana pudding, chocolate pie or iced tea made just for them. She was an avid reader and collector of books. She enjoyed writing stories, much to the enjoyment of her grandchildren and others. She will be missed terribly, but we rejoice in knowing that she is now in her heavenly home. We would like to extend our gratitude to the following people for their compassionate care and love through the past few years: Ann and Steve Cannon, Teresa Roberson, Joy Cobb, and Carrie Gooch.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 am at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Burgess.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
