HENDERSON- Elaine Pace Simmons, 92, formerly of Woodland Road, died Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at a local nursing home.Born in Alamance County on June 21, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Willie James Pace and Lessie Ray Pace and was the widow of Felix Calvin Simmons.Elaine was a former kindergarten teacher for 13 years and was a former bookkeeper for Simmons Ford and Henderson Toyota.She played the organ and piano for church many years of her life.As a member of First Baptist Church Henderson, she enjoyed involvement in the handbell choir.Sharing her faith in music was a gift that blessed many.She often brought her family together for amazing home cooked meals.They especially enjoyed her yeast rolls with strawberry jam.Elaine gave her life taking care of home and her family.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, June 26, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Union Ridge Church in Burlington by Pastor Tyler Jones.
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Cindy S. Simpson and husband Jim of Henderson; her son, Ken Simmons and wife Cathy of Burke, VA; six grandchildren, Justin Simmons, Ashley Blinson, Ryan Simmons, Kelly Lane Scupelli, Kimberly Jones, and James M. "Tripp" Simpson, III; and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Pace; and two sisters, Helen Phillips and Louise Hester.
