Erastus McCray Abbott and Lucy West Abbott, and was the widow of Robert Alexander Short.
Mrs. Abbott was a homemaker and a member of Browns Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:00 am in the Browns Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Bryant Riddick and the Rev. Calvin Hedgepeth.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Short Chapman of Asheville and Mary Ann Short Lane of Norlina; four sons, R. Carlton Short and Ronald Douglas Short of Henderson, Larry Gene Short and Michael Dale Short of Norlina; three sisters, Dorothy A. Hutto of Columbia, SC, Frances Abbott, and Patricia A. Ellington both of Henderson; four brothers, Hubert Abbott of Garner, Morris Abbott, Thurston Abbott and Gilbert Abbott all of Henderson; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and one step great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Browns Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to a charity of ones choice.
Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
