Eleanor Clardy Wester

HENDERSON- Eleanor Clardy Dee Dee Wester, from Pittsburg, PA, the daughter of the late Mary White and Will Jouette Clardy, passed away at Duke Medical Pavilion on August 18, 2018.Dee Dee met and married her husband, Dr. Millard Winston Wes Wester, Jr. in 1949 at Duke University where she completed her undergraduate and Physical Therapy degrees. She practiced physical therapy at Watts Hospital in Durham and at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson. Wes and Dee Dee moved to Henderson following his completion of Medical School at Duke and they were both active in the community.
Dee Dee was a loved member of First Baptist Church of Henderson, NC where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, was active with the Womens Mission Union, and was a Girl Scout leader. She was an emeritus member of Henderson House & Garden Club and Tuesday Book Club and was actively involved for many years with the Hospital Guild at Maria Parham Hospital, was a board member of Henderson Community Concert Association. She was a long standing teacher at Vance Granville Community College in ceramics, china painting and doll making.
Dee Dee demonstrated a sincere love for family, God, community, and people.
There will be a celebration of her life Friday, August 24, 2018 at 10:00AM at First Baptist Church Henderson with a reception following in the fellowship hall.
Dee Dee is survived by her son, Dr. Millard Winston Wester, III "Buddy" (Sara, "BeBe"), daughters Shelley Rose (Johns, Robbie), Dr. Elizabeth Roberts Liz (Thomas, Tommy), grandchildren, Frances Rose Miller, Dr. Tracy Wester, John Rose, Millard Winston Wester IV "Wes", Lauren Hall, Jennifer Haney, Cameron Freshwater, Danny Roberts, Doug Roberts, David Roberts, Darrin Roberts, Derrick Roberts and 30 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to recognize Ann Boyd and the endearing relationship she had with Dee Dee as well as how much she has meant to all of us, especially Dee Dee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Millard Winston Wes Wester, Jr. and her brother Will Jouette Clardy Jr.
The family will recieve friends between 4:00 and 7:30 PM at her home on Thursday, August 23rd.
