HENDERSON- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Dixon Winders, age 81, a resident of Richmond and former resident of Edgewood Drive, died Monday, June 12, 2017 at St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, VA.Born in Kenly on October 12, 1935 she was the daughter of the late George Dixon and Louise Pierce Dixon.Mrs. Winders was a retired registered nurse, having worked at Puralator (formerly Facet), Maria Parham and Guardian Care and as a nursing instructor at Vance Granville Community College.
She was a member of West End Baptist Church where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM conducted by Rev. Ralph McGowan.A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM in Kenly in the Dixon Family Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, David E. Winders of Richmond and Paul Winders and wife Jennifer of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Haley Journigan, Jessica Winders, Matthew Winders, Sara Winders and Ethan Winders; four great grandchildren, Damion Winders, Brookelynn Journigan, Kinsleigh Journigan and Parker Winders.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Eugene Winders; a son, Bobby Eugene Winders, Jr.; two sisters, Josephine Dixon Price Hester and Annie Ruth Daniel; and two brothers, William Dixon and George Dixon, Jr.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM at West End Baptist Church.
