Elmer Clay Watson, Sr.

HENDERSON-Elmer ClayE.C. Watson, Sr., age 86, a resident of 70 Shadow Brook Drive, died Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on January 23, 1926 in Avery Co., he was the son of the late George Watson and Myrtle Gribble Watson.E. C. was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II.He was a retired Buyer for Roses Stores, Inc., and was an avid golfer, loved to travel, and visited every state except Alaska.
He was a Charter Member of Central Baptist Church.
A private burial with Military Honors will be held at Sunset Gardens.Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Central Baptist Church by the Rev. Bruce Beck.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Lee Watson of the home; one son, Elmer Clay Watson, Jr. and wife, Karen, of Henderson; three daughters, Sharon W. Martin and husband, Chuck, of Fairfax, VA, Brenda W. Satterwhite and husband, Mike, of Henderson, and Lisa W. Manning and husband, Greg, of Newland; one sister, Lois W. Edwards of Newland; one brother, Ray Watson of Pineola; seven grandchildren, Sonia Allen, Skip Satterwhite, Zach Satterwhite, Kim Weller, Nick Martin, Brandon Watson, and Blake Manning; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall of Central Baptist Church.At other times they will be at the home at 70 Shadow Brook Drive in Hunters Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 2574 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson, NC27537/
