HENDERSON-Ernest Allen "Ernie" Hope, Jr., 72, a resident of 300 Steed Dickerson Road, died Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Maria Parham Medical Center following a brief illness.Born on December 9, 1942 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Ernest Allen Hope and Mary Lee Twisdale Hope. Ernie was a Veteran of the United States Navy He was retired from NOVO and was a member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 PM in the Family Life Center at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Burgess.Burial with Military Honors will follow in Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Beal Hope of the home; one sister, Mary Frances Bowen and husband, Robert of Henderson; four sisters-in-law, Evelyn Jackson, Mary Ann Allison, Bessie Wortham, and June Overby; and three brothers-in-law, John Beal, Frank Beal, and Bruce Beal.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Lewis Beal, Jr.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 2 until 3 PM in the Family Life Center at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church.At other times they will be at the home of Mary Frances and Robert Bowen, 710 Faulkner Town Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Grant Bolton, Brandon Bolton, Charles Brown, Chris Moore, Steve Wiggins, Dennis Overby, Walter Beal, and Keith Brown.Serving as honorary pall bearers will be the New Sandy Creek Baptist Men.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 1699 Weldons Mill Road, Henderson, NC27537.
