HENDERSON-Ernest Nelson Sonny Parrott, age 75, a resident of 389 Mabry Mill Road, died suddenly Monday, September 15, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on October 18, 1938 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Nelson Vernon Parrott and Maxine Poythress Parrott.Sonny was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War, and was a retired supervisor from the former Laurens Glass Co.
He was a member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 4 pm at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Burgess.
He is survived by his wife, Joni Jones Parrott of the home; two daughters, Cynthia P. Cindy Stroupe and husband, Rhett of Fayetteville and Angela P. Toune and husband, Michael of Clarksville, VA; one brother, David Parrott of Henderson; and four grandchildren, Rhett Alexander Stroupe, Dylan Tyler Stroupe, David Michael Toune, and Haley Brianne Toune.He was preceded in death by one sister, Sylvia P. Gardner.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 2:30 until 4 pm in the Fellowship Hall of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church. At other times they will be at the home.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Sonny Parrott Funeral Fund, c/o J. M. White Funeral Home, 60 Zeb Robinson Road, Henderson, NC27536.
