Ethel Lee Overby Smith, age 91, a resident of 3133 Dick Smith Road, died Tuesday, May 01, 2012, at her home.Born on August 13, 1920 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Overby and Dora Holmes Overby, and was the widow of Hughs Smith..She was a homemaker,a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and the Plank Chapel Senior Circle.
Funeral serviceswill be held Friday at 2:00 pm at Oak Ridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Fred McGehee.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen S. Hicks of Louisburg and Joyce S. Pulley of Macon; two sisters, Nellie O. Shearin of Gaston, NC, and Elizabeth O. Kearney of Henderson; one brother, J. B. Overby of Henderson; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home at 3133 Dick Smith Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Henry Finch, Earl Young, Mark Layton, Ben Layton, George Abbott, Richard Coghill, and Richard Smith.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Oak Ridge Baptist Church, c/o Sally S. Wynne, 63 South William Street, Kittrell, NC27544.
