HENDERSON- Mr. Eugene Walton Clarke, age 81, a resident of 2970 Hicksboro Road, died Friday, December 25, 2015 at Hock Family Pavilion.Born in Vance County on December 8, 1934 he was the son of the late Norman Eugene Clarke and Daisy Doris Stainback.He was a retired tobacco farmer and security guard with Variety Wholesalers.Mr. Clarke was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church and the Henry F. Granger Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Island Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Marshall Neathery.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald Parrott Clarke and wife Betty and Paul David Clarke and wife Elise; three daughters, Deborah Clarke Price and husband Eric, Carla Clarke Horton and Annette Clarke Campbell; seven grandchildren, Kris Clarke and wife Marlita, Byron Price and wife Christine, Megan Pugh, Kristie Horton, Hollie Horton, Victoria Clarke, Payton Clarke; and five great-grandchildren, Lane Newhouse, Logan Abbott, Annabelle Clarke, Alexander Clarke and Eli Griffis-Cole.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Parrott Clarke; his sister, Nell Clarke Grissom and two grandchildren, Ron Clarke and Mike Clarke.
The family will receive friends Tuesday prior to the service from 1:00PM till 2:00PM in the fellowship hall of Island Creek Baptist Church.
