Eva Clo Cotner Macon Wilson, age 92, a resident of Henderson, died Sunday, December 25, 2011, in a local nursing home.Born on December 11, 1919 in Joplin, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Dr. John Bee Cotner (Dean of Agriculture at NC State University and Secretary of Agriculture for the State of North Carolina) and Mary Myrtle McClure Cotner.Eva was a graduate of Needham Broughton High School (1936) and graduated from Meredith College in 1940.She was selected as the Girl Scout Ambassador from the United States to an International Round-Up in England.She played the organ and led the choir at Liberty-Vance Christian Church in Epsom.Eva was a retired Home Economics teacher in the Vance County School System where she taught for thirty years. She was an honorary member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Association.She loved the beach and gave many talks on shells.She used her home in Henderson to entertain friends, and was also an avid duplicate bridge player.She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 am at Liberty Christian Church by the Rev. Bryan Breland and the Rev. Tammy Ayscue.
She is survived by one daughter, Pattie Sue Macon Orr of Chapel Hill, and Ron Orr of Redondo Beach, CA; her daughter-in-law Barbara Mabe Macon of Cullowhee, NC;four grandchildren, Neill M. Orr and wife, Rachel Hanson Orr and children, Benjamin and Ethan of Henderson,Rosina Alston Orr of Chapel Hill, Lisa Macon Harrison and husband Michael and daughter Ella of Wake Forest, Bennett A. Macon, III and wife Major Rachelle Marie Macon and son, Landon of Charlottesville, VA.Also surviving are two step-sons, John A. Wilson Jr. and wife Claudia of Sanford, and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene H. Wilson of Raleigh; and her nieces and nephews, Thomas and Candy Horner, Katharine Horner, Courtney Kluttz and husband Jim, Jane Macon Baird and husband, Dr. James Baird, George Macon and wife Donnie, Phyllis Bee Separk Hall, John Rankin, and George Murphy and wife, Jane.She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bennett Alston Macon, Sr. and John A. Wilson; and one son, Bennett Alston Macon, Jr., two sisters, Clyde Cotner Rankin and Bee Cotner Separk; and niece Anne Macon.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 13, 2012 from 4:30 until 6:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.
