HENDERSON Mrs. Farrel Wheeler Oakes, age 73, a resident of 328 Oak Street, died Wednesday April 11, 2012, at her home.Born on March 20, 1939 in Vance County she was the daughter of the late James H. Wheeler, Sr. and Nora McGhee Wheeler.Mrs. Oakes retired from the former law office of Perry, Kittrell, Blackburn and Blackburn where she was employed as a paralegal for 40 years.She was of the Methodist faith.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00AM at Sunset Gardens conducted by the Rev. Neil Woodlief.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin E. Oakes of the home; a son, Craig Oakes and wife Virginia of Henderson; two grandsons, Justin Oakes and fiance C.J. Garrison of Greenville, and Tyler Oakes of Henderson; a sister, Jean W. Ayscue and husband Fred of Blue Ridge, VA; a brother, James H. Wheeler, Jr. and wife Brenda of Henderson; and a special friend, Ann McIntyre of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Wortham.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 till 8:30PM at J.M. White Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
