CARY- Ferebee Abbott Allen, 86, of Chapel Hill Road and formerly of Beechwood Trail in Henderson, died Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Brookdale Cary. Born September 17, 1939 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Aliene Pegram Abbott and Bryant Clifton Abbott, and was the widow of George Clayton Allen, Jr. Ferebee graduated from Elon College where she was a member of both Delta Upsilon Kappa and a business sorority. She was a high school teacher and an instructor at Vance Granville Community College. She was also an active member of First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class, which she formerly taught. Ferebee’s civic involvement included being involved in the Outstanding Young Women of America and Personalities of the South; as well as being a former member of the Henderson Junior Woman’s Club, serving as president and as a Convention page for the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs of North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held Friday December 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Hal Abbott and Dale Vaughn. Entombment will follow at Sunset Gardens.

Ferebee is survived by her son, George Clayton “Clay” Allen III, and his wife, Ellen, of Cornelius, and her granddaughter, Margaret Abigail Allen. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nell Abbott Vaughan and Anne Abbott Pulley, and her brother, O.C. Abbott. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 12:30 until 1:50 at J. M. White Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Vaughn, Delmas Pulley, Hal Abbott, John Abbott, Johnny Almand, and John Hampton. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The First United Methodist Church, 114 Church Street, Henderson NC 27536.
