Mrs. Flossie Duke Gupton, age 88, a resident of 1864 Clearview Drive, died Monday at a local nursing home.Born in Vance County on April 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Vallie Griffin Duke and Tom Duke, Sr. and was the widow of Roy W. Gupton. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church (formerly Second Baptist Church) and a retired Roses salesclerk.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home by Rev. Frank Sossoman and Rev. David Barnett.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived bya son, Roy Randall Gupton, Sr. and his wife, Pat of Henderson; a brother, Edison Duke and a sister, Sarah Pace both of Henderson; four grandchildren, Karyn Dickerson, Tracee Lassiter, Roy Randall Randy Gupton, II, and Amber Gupton; and seven great-grandchildren, Cody Dickerson, Chelsey Dickerson, Daylon Lassiter, Caitlyn Gupton, Cameron Gupton, Catherine Gupton, and Kaydee Lassiter.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Rev. S. Leon Gupton and a brother Tom Duke, Jr.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times the family will receive friends at Mrs. Guptons home, 1864 Clearview Drive.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Dickerson, Marvin Ross, III, Kim Jones, Jake Roberson, Charlie Edwards, and Eric Martin.
