Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Rowe Cava of Henderson, North Carolina entered her eternal rest on Thursday, August 13, 2015. She was the daughter of the late James T. and Bessie Hogge Rowe of Newport News, Virginia where she spent most of her ninety-two years of life.
Pete, as she was lovingly nick-named by her father and known by many of her family, was born in Warwick County on January 30, 1923. She was a graduate of Morrison High School and attended the Kee Business School in Newport News. She worked many jobs during her life but is mainly remembered for her service as the Secretary of the Warwick Baptist Church where she and her family were charter members, and later of Allstate and State Farm Insurance Companies. Following retirement she owned and operated Nanas Farm Kitchen, a small but successful home-based bakery and is remembered for the delectable sweets she produced.
Mrs. Cava leaves a small loving family, including her sons Dale Randolph Cava and his wife Barbara of Toano,VA along with Ronald Steven Cava and his wife Shirley of Henderson. She is also survived by grandchildren Kathryn Cava, Jennifer Cava, Amber Cava, Julia Cava Nugen and husband Stephen, Steven Cava, and Charis Cava Shattuck and husband Jonathon, along with great-granddaughter, Hannah Claire Shattuck, and step-great-granddaughter, Mariella Nugen. She also leaves behind a number of nephews and cousins whom she greatly loved.
Mrs. Cava was preceded in death by her husband, Roy John Cava, their son, Gregory Rowe Cava, and her sister Mary Belle Rowe Johnson.
A service of Christian worship in witness to the resurrection and in honor of her life will be held at The First Baptist Church of Henderson, North Carolina, officiated by Reverend Amy Russell on Sunday, August 16, 3:00 p.m., Reverend Doctors Marion Lark and Roy De Brand will assist. The family will receive visitors in the church fellowship hall following the service and at other times at the home of Ronald and Shirley Cava. A graveside service will be conducted by Reverend Dr. Mark E. Gaskins at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Virginia on Monday, August 17 at 2:00 p.m.
Mrs. Cavas family respectfully requests that gifts in lieu of flowers be made to Community Partners of Hope, Inc., a non-profit ministry for homeless men in Henderson, NC (PO Box 1791, Henderson, NC 27536).
