KITTRELL- Frances Briggs Stanton, 85, of US1 Bypass South, died Sunday, May 10, 2020 at a local nursing home.Born in Vance County on August 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James Elvin Briggs and Gertrude Rhodes Briggs and was the widow of Henry Bracy Stanton.She retired from the Vance County Economic Development Commission where she worked for more than 30 years.She was a member of Fuller Chapel Christian Church, where she sang in the choir and was a faithful member of the Outreach Community and Visitation Team.
A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Fuller Chapel Christian Church by Rev. Tammy Ayscue.
Mrs. Stanton is survived by two sons, Danny Stanton (Shelia) of Henderson and Billy Joe Stanton of Kittrell; two grandchildren, Stephanie Stanton Vaughn (Randall) and Wil Stanton (Sherri Short); and three great grandchildren, Kaylee Vaughn, Austin Vaughn and Bracy Stanton.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Craig Stanton; a granddaughter, Leigh Anne Stanton; a sister, Joan Pernell and three brothers, Elvin Briggs, Newt Rhodes, and "Baby" Briggs.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Pernell, Mike Pernell, Clay Pernell, Stan Briggs, Clint Rhodes, Jason Pernell, David Stanton, Willie Stanton, Willie Stanton, Jr., Billy T. Stanton, Bobby Parham, Jr., and Keith Overton.
The family will receive friends following the service on Wednesday at the cemetery.Following the conclusion of the service, it will be available for viewing online here under her obituary.
