HENDERSON- Frederic N. “Freddie” Oettinger, III, 66, of Gillburg Road, died Friday, February 6, 2026 at his home. Born January 26, 1960 in Wiesbaden, Germany, he was the son of Mary Anne Boyd Oettinger of Clarksville, VA and the late Lt. Col. Frederic N. Oettinger, Jr. Freddie was a lineman with Lee Electrical Construction Company. His employment history began at the age of 16 when he worked for the Mecklenburg School System as a bus driver, a job in which he took great pride. In his young adult life he worked in various capacities for Clarksville Marina where he was a valued asset, and formed fond memories he carried throughout his life. He was a fireman with the City of Henderson Fire Department as well as a volunteer with the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department and the Clarksville Life Saving and Rescue Squad. Freddie was a member of Plank Chapel United Methodist Church where he was active in the Methodist Men. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf and was a member of the Townsville Hunt Club. Also a lifelong sports fan, as a child he participated in every little league sport offered in the Clarksville, VA area and as an adult he enjoyed coaching and supporting his daughters and their teammates in all their sports efforts. Everyone loved Freddie, no matter how they came to know him.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Island Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Carolyn Roy and Rev. Carol Dean.
In addition to his mother, Freddie is survived by his wife, Kimberly McDade Oettinger of the home; three daughters, Dade O. Jezierski (Josh) of Midlothian, VA, Morgan O. Owen (Austin) of Raleigh and Laci-Leigh Oettinger (Justin Heath) of Henderson; two grandsons, Rhett Jezierski and Baylor Jezierski; his sister, Anne Goode Price (Russ) of Atlanta; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty Rose P. McDade and Robert L. McDade of Henderson; his brother-in-law, James Anthony McDade; his niece, Mary Macon Lissner and his nephew, Alexander Boyd Price.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of Island Creek Baptist Church.
