- Furnie Lewis Lawson, Sr., age 86, a resident of 195 Spring Valley Lake Road, died January 31, 2011 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on December 21, 1924, he was the son of the late Hugh Lawson and Annie Reid Lawson.Mr. Lawson was formerly employed at Eastern Motor Lines where he was a truck driver and was a former security guard at Roses and Maria Parham Hospital.He was a veteran of the United States Army and United States Air Force serving in WWII.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 at Spring Valley United Methodist Church by Rev. Ray Pearce.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Louise Hunt Lawson; two daughters, Scarlet L. Jones of Norlina, and Bonnie L. Baskett of Henderson; two sons, Furnie Lewis Lawson, Jr of Henderson and Steven R. Lawson of the home; five sisters, Kennon L. Lassiter, Burena L. Tucker, June L. Harp, and Laurice L. Faucette all of Henderson, and Charlotte L. House of Fayetteville; one brother, William Billy Lawson of Henderson; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Bob Lawson.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 AM till 11:00AM in the Spring Valley United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as pall bearers will be Bryan Baskett, Zachary Long, Robert Jones, David Long, Rusty Renshaw, Mike Smith, and Woolard Smith.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Spring Valley United Methodist Church C/O Bobby Williams 955 Spring Valley Rd., Henderson NC 27537.
Arrangements are by J.M. White Funeral Home.
