Garland Ivey Thomerson

-Garland Ivey Thomerson, age 77, a resident of 267 Chavasse Avenue, died Sunday, August 02, 2015, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on August 25, 1937, he was the son of the late Rufus Garland Pete Thomerson and Juliette Ivey Thomerson and was the widower of Nancy Dian Stainback Thomerson. Garland was a Veteran serving in the United States Army.He was retired from the former Laurens Glass Company and was a member of White Memorial United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ralph McGowan.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Thomerson of the home; one sister, Ruth Allen Thomerson of Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Frances Moore and Nancy Carolyn Anderson.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 1 until 2 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 267 Chavasse Avenue.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Buddy West, Troy Ogle, Thomas West, Mack Delbridge, Caleb Turner, and Brookie Edwards.
