Gary Anthony Burke

YOUNGSVILLE- Gary Anthony Burke, 74, of Ag Drive, died Monday, October 25, 2021 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Born in Newark, NJ on April 2, 1947, he was the son of the late Joseph E. Burke and Myrtle Nugent Burke. Gary was formerly employed at the University of Rochester, was the owner and operator of the former Abbington-Wolfe Florist in Smithfield and worked in the IT Purchasing and Contract Department of Progress Energy. He was a Master Gardener and a former board member for the Ava Gardner Museum. No services are planned at this time. Gary is survived by his husband, Ricky A. Edwards of the home; his brother, Jay Burke (Mari-Jayne) of Montgomery, TX; a niece, Kathy Houser (Doug) of Columbia City, IN; three nephews, Robert Burke (Teresa) of Fort Wayne, IN, Jay Burke, Jr., and James Burke; and two friends, Patrick Dwyer and Deborah Gonzales. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Francis Burke; and two nephews Michael Burke and Cristopher Burke
