OXFORD- Senior Master Sergeant George Kevlin Davis, USAF (Ret.), 100, formerly of Elizabeth City, NC, died on Sunday, February 23, 2025. He was born in Springfield, Louisiana, on June 8, 1924, to the late Ashley B. Davis and Ella Davidson Davis. George was the widower of the love of his life, Carolyn Cartwright. They were married for 71 happy years before she passed away in 2018. George spent 22 years in the United States Air Force, where he fought in the Vietnam War. He also served in the United States Coast Guard in World War II and the United States Army during the Korean conflict. After retiring from the Air Force, George continued his commitment to public service by working as an Aircraft Electrician for the United States Coast Guard in a civil service capacity. His work spanned several decades, and he retired with respect and admiration from his colleagues. George has been a member of the Widow’s Son Camden Masonic Lodge #75 AF & AM since 1952. George is survived by daughters Brenda Wiard (Robert) of Henderson, NC, and Sharon Earle of Ohio; grandchildren Jason Wiard (Lana) and Virginia Reagle (Robbie); and great-grandchildren, Austin Wiard, Will Wiard, Caroline Wiard, Brady Reagle, and James Reagle. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn, and his son Wayne Davis. A funeral service with Masonic Rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Twiford Memorial Chapel in Elizabeth City, NC. Burial with Military Honors will follow at West Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives immediately following the service at Twiford Memorial Chapel.
