HENDERSON-George Arthur G.A. Franklin, Jr., age 89, a resident of 1444 Brookston Road, died Saturday, May 20, 2017, at his home.Born in Vance County on September 12, 1927, he was the son of the late George Arthur Franklin, Sr. and Louise Ross Franklin.
G.A. was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was the owner and operator of Vance Barber Shop for 50 years.He was of Presbyterian Faith.
To honor his wishes, a private graveside funeral service was held for the family on Monday in Middleburg Cemetery by Chaplain Brian Sartor.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Knott Franklin of the home; four daughters, Katherine Franklin Huston of Dewey, AZ, Sue Ellen Franklin of the home, Ann Franklin and husband, William Mackoul of Rego Park, NY, and Myra Jane Franklin of Durham; one sister, Alma Franklin Dillard of Henderson; five grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
