George Donald French

George Donald (Donnie) French of Townsville, 71, died Sunday, July 24, 2022. He was a native of Rockingham County and the second son of Reuben R. French, Sr. and Beatrice Cobb French, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his sister, Barbara French Bolden of Eden. He is survived by his four children – Richard, Julie, Amanda and Natalie, all of Burlington – brothers Rick French of Woodstock, GA and David French of Litchfield Beach, SC, and one beloved niece and four nephews. Donnie attended NC State University and farmed in Vance County with his father-in-law for several years before joining Goodyear and later, Pete Smith Tire & Lube in Henderson, from which he retired. He will be remembered as a faithful and generous friend, and a down-to-earth person who loved to laugh and have a good time. His family gratefully acknowledges Sherrill Moss for her steadfast care and concern as Donnie’s dear friend of many years. No services will be held.
